Employment opportunities at Couran Cove Island Resort cover a variety of roles including Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Recreation, Kitchen and Front Office.

The resort ferry takes approximately 35 minutes from Hope Harbour Marina to Couran Cove.  Ferries depart Hope Harbour and Couran Cove approximately every two hours, and team member rosters are based around these ferry times. The majority of our team commute to the resort each day to work.

Groundsperson (Full Time)

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to actively contribute to our Grounds & Gardens operation to ensure that all duties are completed to a high standard.

Selection Criteria includes though is not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in landscaping or parks and gardens maintenance 
  • Certificate III Horticulture preferred
  • Skid steer/Bobcat, Front end Loader, Forklift and/or Chainsaw licences would be highly regarded 
  • A team player with a "Can Do" attitude 
  • Current clean drivers licence (Manual) is essential 
  • Must be physically fit, keen to work outdoors, and work on a rotating roster including weekends

Events Coordinator (Full-time)

We seek an enthusiastic and talented candidate who will demonstrate high levels of initiative, provide exceptional service and client support to ensure our conference, events and incentive programs are a great success.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as an Event Coordinator or similar role within a Four Star Hotel or Resort environment 
  • Sound knowledge of Event Floor Operations 
  • Demonstrated ability in managing a complex contractual process (including finalisation of contract details) 
  • Excellent computer and administrative skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access) are essential 
  • Experience in Event Pro Banquet software would be advantageous 
  • Proven experience in building business links within the Events Industry
  • Exceptional interpersonal and business communication skills including a proactive response to client enquiries 
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise effectively 
  • Professional presentation and a confident, personable manner

Guest Services Officer / Porter (Casual)

Security & Safety Officer (Casual)

We are looking for Security and Safety Officers who have previous experience in a similar 4 star Resort / Hotel environment that can promote a state of comfort, security and safety amongst all of our employees and guests on our Island Resort.

This position offers approximately 40 hours per week, and is paid on an hourly basis. This position includes day, evening, night and weekend shifts, based on a rotating roster.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Security Operations Licence
  • RSA and Blue Card or willing to achieve
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a Hotel or Resort environment. 
  • Be able to work autonomously and conduct routine patrols and property inspections. 
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Excellent communication skills in order to produce accurate reports for Management
  • Fire Training and Emergency Evacuation Procedures training experience will be advantageous

Handyperson (Full-time)

This full time position works within our Property, Maintenance, Engineering and Energy Management Department. Typical duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Repairs to mechanical and electronic locks
  • Repairs to blinds, curtains, pelmets, windows and door shutters
  • Shower head, tap and tile repairs and replacement
  • Pool cleaning and water analysis
  • Guestlink movie system fault rectification
  • Basic air-conditioning repairs
  • Moving furniture, mounting artwork etc
  • Cleaning light fittings and skylights,
  • Vacuum sewer plant, power station and water treatment logs
  • Assist other trades as required.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance capacity ideally within the hospitality environment or large property operations
  • Basic plumbing, electrical, tiling and carpentry skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Accustomed to dealing with the public in a hotel/resort environment
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Team player 
  • Pool maintenance an advantage 
  • Sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety obligations
  • Current clean drivers licence is essential 
  • Ability to work a fortnightly rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Housekeeping Porter/Houseperson (Casual)

We are seeking a physically fit and reliable team member to work in our housekeeping department as a Houseperson. The main tasks required of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring all linen, rubbish and miscellaneous items left for collection are picked up
  • Correct supply boxes are dropped off at guest rooms for housekeepers
  • To attend to resort guests' needs immediately and with a smile

In this role you will predominantly be working alone, therefore it is important that the successful candidate can work unsupervised. You will have a polite, friendly manner and always be willing to assist our guests in any way you can. Selection Criteria is as follows:

  • Current, clean manual drivers licence, as this role involves the responsibility of driving a vehicle on the island
  • Previous experience is not essential as we will provide full training
  • The ability to work a 7 day rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays due to the nature of the business

Plumber / Gasfitter (Part Time)

This Part Time position works within our Property, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Construction Department.

The purpose of this position is to repair and maintain all plumbing, gas appliances, infrastructure and other associated equipment generally as required to operate the Resort. It will be an advantage for the successful candidate to have experience and be conversant in the following:

  • All plumbing / gas-fitting equipment and repairs i.e. hot water systems, pumping systems, solar systems & associated gas booster equipment, mains gas & water systems, associated valving, gas heaters, BBQ's, general plumbing and any other equipment as may be used in the Resort, as applicable to the Trade
  • Raypac Hot Water Boilers
  • Commercial & Domestic Gas Kitchen Equipment
  • Waste Water Treatment Plant process & equipment inclusive of de-watering
  • Vacuum Sewer System Process & Equipment
  • Reverse Osmosis Potable Water Treatment plant process & equipment inclusive of Water Quality Requirements / Treatment Process 
  • Swimming Pool / chlorination / ORP Plant process & equipment inclusive of water quality requirements / treatment process 
  • Roofing, Guttering, Sheet-metal work

In order to apply for this position, you must meet the following selection criteria:

  • Must hold current trade qualifications with Queensland registration relevant to the position, or be prepared to obtain 
  • Preferably have previously worked in a Resort or similar organisation
  • Possess or be prepared to obtained first aid certificate
  • Possess or be prepared to obtain Confined Space certificate
  • Possess or be prepared to obtain L.V rescue certificate
  • Must have current QLD drivers licence

This position is part time based on a 7 day roster.  The successful candidate will be flexible in the hours they can work, as it may be necessary to do overtime occasionally if the business necessitates.
