KOALA HAVEN - OUR VISION
Couran Cove Island Resort, located on South Stradbroke Island just off the Gold Coast Queensland, has everything you could desire in a uniquely Australian island holiday. This world class Ecotourism resort embodies everything Australian’s hold close to their heart about lifestyle, nature and environment - and it’s just become even more special with the addition of our new wildlife experience - 'Koala Haven'.
As part of the resort’s continuing vision towards sustainable Ecotourism practices, our new 'Koala Haven' is a caring home for three young koalas - affectionately known as Des, Horto. Our experienced wildlife management team provides world's best practice care, and feel a sense of pride as our new Koala family become educational ambassadors for the plight of their wild cousins Koala population.
The 'Koala Haven' experience is purposely educational information on the environmental impacts that are alarmingly increasing the plight of the Koala's dwindling habitat, and then how each of us can contribute to improving their habitats and as such the survival rate of the Koala in the wild.
Couran Cove Island Resort's 'Koala Haven' provides a holistic and unique experience for our resort guests whilst on holiday, a personal and intimate moment to reflect on the beauty and significance of an Australian national icon - the Koala.
The 'Koala Haven' also provides resort guests with an opportunity to spend quality time getting to really know our koala's and their individual personalities. As the name suggests, ' Koala Haven' is a place of rest, refuge and comfort for both our Koala's and guests.
This is a truely unique opportunity within an Australian island resort to interact with the island’s own Koalas in a purpose built enclosure set amongst naturally occurring mature eucalyptus 'gum' trees, and as such is representative of a Koala's natural habitat.
INTRODUCING OUR KOALA AMBASSADOR'S
In support of the Koalas living in the wild, we will encourage practical solutions that our resort guests may apply at home and then also assist in raising vital funds for the Australian Koala Foundation.
It is also our aim to help the Australia Koala Foundation in their efforts to reduce the chances of further population decline. You too can support the Australia Koala Foundation by sponsoring either of our Koalas, Des or Horton. All proceeds from the sponsorship programme will go towards helping koalas live in the wild. You will also enjoy receiving regular updates on your chosen koala.
