Couran Cove is a resort that caters for a diverse range of markets. We have entertained Conference and Events groups from multi-national companies across a broad range of commercial sectors such as medical research, financial services and the automotive industry. Famous sporting groups like the Wallabies, the 2000 English Olympic Athletics team and a number of AFL teams have relaxed and rejuvenated on the island. Couran Cove Island Resort, situated on the Gold Coast’s South Stradbroke Island, has just been awarded a five star rating by the Eco Hotels of the World. "Eco Hotels of The World" is a free online guide created to showcase the most environmentally-friendly hotels in the world.
All the hotels featured have been personally selected by their editors to ensure that they meet the standards required to be considered an eco-friendly hotel. Hotels cannot pay for inclusion nor do they accept commissions on bookings – therefore staying totally independent and objective.
Ratings are based on the following criteria, Energy, Water, Disposal, Eco-Active, and Protection.
Each category is assessed with a rating between 1 and 5, an average of each score is taken and an overall result produced and reflective of the green qualities of each establishment.
The eco hotel must fulfill most of the following criteria before being submitted to the rating system: Dependence on the natural environment, Ecological sustainability, Proven contribution to conservation, Provision of environmental training programs, Incorporation of cultural considerations, and the

COURAN COVE ISLAND RESORT STRENGTHENS ENVIRONMENTAL STANCE IN TOURISM.
Couran Cove Island Resort is proud to be an Advanced Eco Certified Resort via Ecotourism Australia. The Resort focuses on achieving its best practice by using resources wisely, contributing to the conservation of the environment and helping local communities. As a major focus for the year, and to reinforce our position on this topic the Resort has decided to consolidate our printed marketing materials and develop innovative ways to get our message out to the public.
One such strategy has seen the introduction of electronic versions of collateral and in particular the resort brochures. This would see a significant reduction in paper used and printing that would have normally been required, and allow us to become even more environmentally friendly.
